Ibanez A300BSL - New Saddle

Author Message Laserjet Username: Laserjet Registered: 05-2005 Posted on Sunday, May 29, 2005 - 4:49 pm:    I have a left handed A300BSL Arch backed Dreadnought purchased new in 1978 for around £120 and recently fitted a compensated TUSQ saddle. The difference in tone this piece of plastic has made to the guitars sound is quite staggering!!. Has anyone else tried this?. Also, any ideas on the value of this 27 year old?. Your guitar is from a by-gone era in Ibanez's history. They don't make them in Japan anymore and they don't make them like that. Left handed is a rarity, for sure. Price-wise, Ibanez acoustics are not well-known and don't get what they are worth (compared to other brand name acoustics from the 70s). I'd guess you might get in the $400.00US range, in good to excellent condition, with a case. Being a lefty may get you a premium, though. Depends on how many lefty Ibanez acoustic lovers are out there. TUSQ saddles are really quite common, and used by Taylor, Gibson, Larrivee etc. Their website is www.graphtech.com if you want any information. I purchased mine off ebay. It is the Taylor size which I bought and is identical in width and thickness to the Ibanez. All that was required was to rub the base of the saddle over a file until it was the required depth and slot it in the bridge.
