Hi!
I registered just yesterday and I really like this board. A brief introduction would be, 22 year old Swede who like bikes and Ibanez-guitars.
Anyway,
I have an old Ibanez acoustic that I got from my dad. He bought it in sweden sometime during 60´s or 70´s I think.
But I cannot find any info on this guitar anywhere. I would like as much info as possible, like when it was made, model name (if any) and so on.
Instead of describing it I´ve tried to take pictures of it from a couple of different angles.

Welcome to the ICW board!
You have a model 627 (as you can see from the label inside). Interesting that the guitar has no logo on the headstock. This is an anomoly that has not been fully explained; it just happened. Also on the label is the word Jamboree. Here's a link that talks a little about that series name:

Here's a link to a 1974 German catalog that shows the model 627:

Notice that it has a logo on the headstock and no dot inlays on the bridge.

Take a look inside the guitar and see if there are any numbers on the neck block. That could help with narrowing down the year of manufacture.
One price list from the mid 70s states the list price at $159.00 US. |

I forgot to mention that the truss rod cover is not original. The strange thing is that it's from another fairly rare Ibanez semi-acoustic electric guitar, the RS12216, otherwise known as the Al Caiola model. |

I looked around inside of it with a mirror but found no numbers. Strange about the truss rod cover, never even considered it might be from another model. Funny to see a fairly rare guitar with parts from ANOTHER fairly rare guitar.
I thought it was kind of weird that the head had no logo on it. But that could possibly help determining year if I do enough research.
The more I find out the more I want to know. |
