I have a AW500 and I have some questions about it.
How do I find out how old it is?
Are the back and sides solid rosewood or laminated?
It does not have any electronics.
How long has the AW500 been made?

Gsisser:

In order to date the guitar, we need the serial number.

Good question about the sides and back. I'm not sure I've heard an official answer. Are there any distinctive knots or grain patterns on the outside of the back and side that correspond to the same location on the inside of the guitar?

The serial # is 97011309
I read that some Korean ones had 7 digit serial numbers and the first two were the year.
This has 8 digits and I think its older than 1997.
When did they start making the Aw 500?

I'd say it was made in 1997. I have a 1998 Acoustic catalog that shows the AW500. Does your's have a bound neck and headstock and snowflake inlays on the bridge?

Offhand, I don't know when the AW500 designation was first used.

Yup.. Binding on the neck and headstock, herringbone inlay around the top and a plain binding on the back of the body. Snowflakes on the neck and bridge. To me it looks like a copy of a D-28 Martin without the $2800 price tag.

I just wish I knew if the back and sides were soild Rosewood. I cant really tell from the grain that you can see looking in the sound hole.
