I just picked up and Artwood AW-60 and I'm trying to find info on it. Inside it says, "Ibanez Artwood Series. Hand crafted from select solid woods in Owari Asahi Japan" Stamped inside near the neck is 0608045 AW-60.

I'd like to know the year made, types of woods used, was this sold new in the U.S., approx selling price when new, and anything else I can find out about it. For my internet searches I'm only finding these in Germany and Japan.

Isn't that the translucent black/grey solid spruce top cutaway with the fishman pickup? If it's the AW60ECE that's the one. Tried it once at a local dealer. Good value for the money!

No electronics, no cutaway. The person I bought it from bought it used some time in the mid 90s.

(I do wish it had a cut away, though.

Looks a lot like this, only it has a wood pick guard.

Caprae,

If you're still here; I realize this post is from a year ago...

Ginger and I suspect that you misread the serial number. We suspect it says O808045, indicating it's from the year 1980. My 1981 AW-75 is from Owari Asahi as well.

About the AW-60 from this era, the 1979 catalog scans say this was solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. You can see for yourself the scan (with it's limited info) at: http://www.break-even.org/ibzscans/semiaccustic197 9/seac-4.JPG
