I just bought a near mint 1983 NW350 with a nice hardshell case, for $250. I would have paid more, it's a real sweetie! 6 piece neck, beautiful bird's eye maple back & sides...plays like a dream. I'm a player & not a "collector" but I still wonder if this was a good value? I don't really care what it says on the headstock...this Ibanez looks & plays as good as any Gibson or Guild that I have tried. Also, anyone know what's the difference between the NW350 and the NW360?

I'd really like to know anything more that I can find out about this guitar. It's really fine. As someone else pointed out in another thread, the fretboard rosewood is so dark & tight grained, I thought it was ebony until I took off the strings & really examined it. The bridge is ebony, and saddle & nut are bone. The materials are absolutely first class, the birdseye is unbelievable. Pix don't do it justice.

Ubetcha:

I haven't seen this particular model NW guitar before. The difference between it and the NW340 looks like curly maple versus flame maple.

Is this a US imported guitar or from another country?

Are those tuners stock or replacements?

Captain Ibanez has acoustic catalogs from the early '80s. Let's see if he can give you more info.

Thank you Johns, I don't know the guitar's history before 1995, when the guy I got it from picked it up in Calif. The tuners are gold rotomatics I just put on because the original Ibanez chrome "super tuner II's" were getting sloppy. Didn't have to change anything or drill any holes, and now it stays in tune. The maple is really fine birdseye & not curly. This is not really apparent in the pics because the resolution isn't good enough, sorry. The headstock veneer is also birdseye maple. I saw one reference to a NW360 at a Euro guitar bbs. and it was described as being all birdseye, top as well, with block neck inlays & possibly a one-off or a very small production run for shows or something? I don't know what is what, but I'd like to know. I build guitars, & the quality & materials in this one just jump out at me, anything I can find out will be greatly appreciated. Meanwhile I am playing the crap out of it, & having fun. Thanks, Frank.

I bought mine brand new. It was still in the box and Moze had to open it to show it to me. I believe I paid about $250 back in 1983. It was the prettiest guitar I had ever seen. It might have been early 1984, it's all a blurr. I would have to say that Ubetcha got a pretty good deal.
