This is my response to another thread that disputed the existance of the Ibanez A340 acoustic guitar. I thought it might warrant it's own thread.

I have an A340 acoustic Ibanez. They do exist, but must be kinda scarce. Serial # is 780824 on the neck block inside the body. Made in Japan. Bought it new in 78 or 79 at Pearland Music in Pearland, Texas. Dreadnought size, large rectangular pearloid fret markers with black diagonals (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, & 12; 15 & 17 have no black diagonal) in the rosewood (corrected thanks to Johns) fretboard, covered gold machine heads, arched back. Multiple bound front, and back. White single bound neck with black dot markers. 1 11/16" at the nut. The "A" of the model number is a little smudged, but sure looks like it has a crossbar, as in not an upside down V. The back and sides look to be maple, but stained dark. Top looks to be spruce. Mahogany neck. Great action, stays in tune well, and stays in tune all the way up the neck. Unbelievable balanced sound and great sustain. I own several guitars including Gibsons, Taylors, and Martins, but this is the guitar I always reach for first. I just love the neck on this guitar! I've been looking for information on these for a couple of years and can find nothing. I'd like to buy another one for my son if anyone knows where one is for sale.
