Hi,
Just got this beauty from Germany. It's a 1978 Ibanez Artist 2605/6.
From the documentation it's a top-of-the-line guitar from Ibanez Western Series 78-79
The serial number is: C780125.
In the old catalog (March 1978 Germany) it's listed with the old script logo, but this one has the traditional Artist logo.
The neck is very much as an electric Artist, narrow and with medium frets. I've put 0.11's on it but the sound is still big, but not so warm as my 754M.
Haven't seen many of these Acoustic Artists, but they are great craftmanship. In my opinion Ibanez reach the top qualitywise and modelwise in 1978. (Scruggs, PF's, Artists etc..)
2605
Any others with this model in the house?

Hi Steph,

I've got a simular 1978 2605 but with block inlays instead of the stars. It does have the star tuners though. You can see it in my "updated group shots".

Yeah! Remember my old brown sunburst version (with stars)? That was a nice tub.

Steph,

Were you bidding on one a couple of weeks back?

Hi Six,

Yes I was - but it was taken off eBay. I was thinking of plugging a Fishman rare earth into one of the them.
