Dear Members,

i just collected an Ibanez AE700
very happy with it, great sound and feel, super fast neck, frets are good, simple EQ AEQ-III, beautiful fretboard with nice inlay, not to big and not heavy.

Some info from you guys about this guitar more than welcome , i couldn't find nothing.

It looks a lot like my '82 AE400.

The AE are lovely looking guitars, hence i'm after one myself. First i've heard of the AE700. This range is popping up with new model numbers all the time. Wouldnt mind hunting down the AE1000... a later model from 2003.
AE700 looks great though. Are those pearloid tuners?

Sibly, Michael, i also never heard of a AE700, till
had this one in my hands, yes the tuners are brownish pearl,.
I was checking some of my Ibanez catalogs but no info about this model.
The EQ which i thought was passive is actually Active i just discovered , the battery is inside the guitar, its a AEQ-III version...so removing the battery will take some time.

A sales poster from 1992 is listing the AE700. A lot of catalogs can be downloded from the site of the German distributor Roland Meinl:

http://www.musik-meinl.de

Then go to 'Service-Download' -> 'Katalog Archiv' -> 'Ibanez Gitarren'

Since the scan is pretty small, here are the specs of the AE700:

Top: Spruce (laminated)
Sides & Back: Ovankole
Fretboard: Rosewood
Neck: 1pc Mahogany
Bridge: Rosewood
Tuners: Die-Cast Gold
EQ: AEQ-III
Finish: NT (matte)

The specs of the AE900S explicitly state 'Solid Spruce' for the Top so it is very likely that the Top of the AE700 is laminated.

Yogi / Juergen , thanks for solving this little mistery, very impressive this AE700...concerning the top i think too its laminated otherwise they had stated solid as they did with the AE900S , isn't that the acoustic Paul Gilbert was using lot ? That one is just super....who ownes one on this board ? pics please...
I never saw one, the AE800 blue is also very nice..and if somebody has a AE600N (the classical version)for sale just let me know.

i just cleaned the guitar and put a new set of strings on it...its great and the neck is something else..wow great guitar.

Thanks for the tip of these scans.
