There was a brief guitar related connection between Tama (yes, the drum company) and Ibanez. The Tamas were very high end acoustics imported by Ibanez. Here's a treat, courtesy of Cameron Berthold, more catalog pictures.

The 6 string models were the 105, 106, 107, 200 & 201. All had spruce tops, ebony fingerboards and clear lacquer finishes. The 100s had Rosewood backs and sides. The 200 series had Jacaranda sides and back. Most have diagonal split block fret markers of Pearl and abalone. The 105 has a vine on the neck and the 106 has dots. The sound holes on several are studded with MOP.

If anyone has one of these Tama guitars, do let us know how you like it.

Here are the 12 string models: the 80/12 and 120/12.

Both have spruce tops, mahogony necks, ebony fretboards and wood binding. The 80/12 has mahogony back and sides. The 120/12 has rosewood back and sides. Both have dot markers and cashew finish.

I purchased a tama guitar in 1975-76 model number tg-120 serial number 80609074. I love the guitar, the sound keeps getting better and better over the years. I am curious the value of this guitar today. If you have any more information please email me at kochelek@chartertn.net.
