Hi Gully,

We should be able to identify your acoustic no problem. We just need that pic. I no longer have my 620 but if you drop me an email direct I will send you a pic of her for comparison.

Here's a picture of Gully's acoustic. It definitely says "620" on the label.

Gully:

I checked throught the catalogs at ibanez-vintage-page.de and didn't see a 620 or anything close to it. It's obvious there was a 620. From the headstock shape, I'd guess it has to be '75 or before.

Is there a serial number anywhere? On the back of headstock, label or on the neck block inside the guitar?

Thanks John,

My guitar also lacked a serial # on the headstock. Cant say I bothered to check inside the soundhole.

This was quite a nice guitar although I wasn't too keen on the adjustable bridge.

Wouldn;t mind knowing a bit more about this one. According to all of my information on acoustics it's a non existent model but we can't deny the evidence before our eyes.

It appears to share the double row inlays, headstock shape, headstock inlay, bridge shape, tuners and pickguard of the 1974-1976 684's.

It's not the first oddity I've seen from that era of acoustics with strange model numbers but I'd have to say that if you'd shown it to me blind I'd have tipped it as a 684.

Will keep digging.

Hello six,Gonzo etc.Its Gully here again, have just informed John that Cameron at ib vintage guitar says its the concord range and is one of the "law suite"models exact copy of the gibson hummingbird.made between 73 to 75 and sought after. No wonder we had a nightmare finding out about it.P,s there is no # on my headstock either, only in the soundhole and the round thing by yhe bridge is my pleccy!.Nice to know it has a sister Six.

Not sure where she is now Gully. My one was in a red lined Hiscock protector case.

I eventually P/X'd her against an irresistible lawsuit Ibanez 2457 Gibson 355 copy from a guy in London. He wanted an acoustic and I had to have his 2457.

Nice chatting with you...

Hi all. This is very close to my Ibanez acoustic... but not quite!

I bought it new in '74/75 direct from the UK importer (Summerfield Brothers). It is basically a Hummingbird copy. At first glance I'd say it was a 684 but the inlay round the sound hole is different.

The pickguard on mine is the same as those posted above which is NOT the same as a 684. The pictures here are the only time I've seen this pickguard design.

The machine heads on mine are more of a trapezoid shape and the sound hole inlay work is different from the 2 pictures above (again I haven't seen another version with the same inlay work). Mine also has the "Concord" name on the truss rod cover. The internal label is the same as in the pictures of the 620's above but the model number is blank! It may have faded awayy but I can find no trace of it. If my memory were better I'd be able to remember what it was I bought! I seem to recall it being a 680 or 690... almost sure it was 6x0. I still have the original "How to take care of your guitar" book together with the small plastic wallet containing truss rod allen key and spare bridge pins.

I'll attempt to post a couple of images here.

I'm desperate to find what model number it is as it's doing my head in trying to remember stuff from 30 years ago ;-(

lindsey again. i bought this guitar at a country fete in linlithgow, scotland for £20.im not sure what lawsuit means in relations to the guitars. if it is a gibson copy does that mean its a fake in its own right.i bought it 7 yrs ago and there is definately no serial no on it. id like to know where they came from. i presume ibanez produced them.if its a mid 70's guitar surely its worth something even if it is a copy?
