Does anyone out there know anything about this MASA 90 GX90 model? Has anyone played or know about the quality of this guitar? It is a glossy black electric/acoustic model and I believe they were only made in '99, but I am not sure. I have a chance to buy one for $300.
Any personal experience and knowledge of value would be highly apprecitated. Thanks!!!! Apparently the pick-ups are supposed to be good???

Stacy:

I don't have any first hand knowledge of the GX90. But I do have a 2000 Acoustic catalog that lists the GX90. Here's some of the specs, if you don't already know them:

Original design dreadnaught sized body
Solid sitka spruce top
Mahogany neck, back and sides
Rosewood bridge and fretboard
Gold hardware (tuners look to have black knobs)
Removable anti-feedback sponge muffler
AP1 magnetic pickup
AEQ3M 3-band EQ
Brown sunburst or black high gloss finish

Here's the description of the pickup and EQ system: "the Ibanez AP1 Magnetic pickup is carefully placed right at the neck and body joint. Not only is this location the "sweetest spot" for warm sound, it's also the most secure as the pickup is mounted to the guitar's wood block and bracing. Specifically designed to complement the AP1 pickup, the AEQ3M equalizer features treble, middle and bass slide level controls. There's also an EQ phase switch to eliminate feedback and an innovative level control for the 1st and 2nd strings so both the wound and unwound strings can be perfectly balanced."

Except for the dots on the fretboard and the hole in the top, there's not much that's traditional looking about the GX90. If you like the look, it seems like a decent price for a solid top acoustic/electric.

Hope this helps.
