$700.00 per setneck. Not really unreasonable.

Better hurray before Jimmy Page hears about it and scoffs it up.

I agree that the price is decent. I just prefer Ibanez's original pieces over the replica's.

I saw the Trans Siberian Orchestra in December and the guitarist had one like this. He came out and did a few Led Zep tunes after intermission. Man was that a show. those guys played for 3 1/2 hours.

Here is one that's lost it's finish.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33043&item=7338552850&r d=1

Similar colour wood to the V's, Destroyer's and Futura's.

Hi John

As a collector: that's exactly what I wanted to know. I've send a question to the seller about it. Will let you know the answer.
Maybe another new Ibanez discovery or a "home-finished" one??
Kind greetz,

Just got an answer: the twin was originally red. It was sanded, polished and refinished. Solved another Ibanez-riddle......

Amazing how the old cherry finish made the guitar look like real honduras mahogany.

Is the JVGuitars setneck a fake? The headstocks look like a cross between the pre and post lawsuit shapes. I never knew Ibanez made setneck twin SGs until now.

Oh, I'm not saying they didn't make setneck twins, I just didn't know it. I was asking about authenticity because of the headstocks. In the larger pic they don't look like either pre or post lawsuit shapes, but more a cross between.

Hey Flatbag, can you explain what you mean by: "In the larger pic they don't look like either pre or post lawsuit shapes, but more a cross between." ? I think these are the usual post lawsuit style headstocks.

I thought the post lawsuit headstocks had protuding bits on the headstock near where I've added arrows below. The headstocks on the twin appear (to me anyway) to be smooth all the way around (kind of like a moustache shape without the dip in the centre), although it could just be the angle of the photo. The black dots on the backdrop don't help either.

Flatbag:

Here's the picture of the back of the headstocks. The little correct "protruding bits" are there for a January 1977 model.

Something screwy about these peg heads:

Yep Six, that's a Kay logo I think (that small diamond inlay). Other problems are that the pups should be zebra Super 70s on the 6 string neck, and the neck inlays should be split parallelograms, not blocks. (I have a bolt on 2402 to compare with). The case is not original (should be a brown exterior with a yellow or blue lining). And of course the logo seems wrong for a 1975 guitar - it's the later non-script version.

Six, I recall you posted some time ago about fake Ibanez guitars? Well, this seems a fair candidate for one...

Hmm, I was curious too but placed a bid. Shall I cancel it. Was Kay a japanese mid 70's brand too?

The seller confirmed it to be an Ibanez. Could be an odd one, like a 79?
Just went away - but did not reach reserve. To be con't...

Not Ibanez. The truss rod covers are wrong and the necks look slightly splayed too. I thought the 2402 necks were dead parallel.

It's been relisted. No, I don't think it is an Ibanez.

Here's a Kay headstock for comparison to show the inlay.

kay headstock

This doubleneck seems high quality, but it's certainly NOT an Ibanez. Relisted again I see. Tsk tsk
