bought this one today in one of my music-stores. the seller said that it is a Tacoma, a brand I associated with accustic guitars. never heard that they build electrics. what makes me wonder is, that the neckplate seems to have the ibanez serial-no. (F763254/Made in Japan)?? sadly If it would be an IBZ) the guitar is tuned to the top. the pus are DiMarzio, Bill Lawrenz OBL L220 and an unknown pu wich has a number stamped on the bottom (528). the mechanics were changed to schallers, the trem seems to be the original wich is marked S.T.C. Made in Japan and the riders (dont know the english word for that thing where you can ajust the highness of the string) is stamped with an "F", the poties are marked M250kOhm A 461H (tone), the vol-pot has the same ohms and the number 6621. even the pickguard is stamped with the number 16702. in the neckpocket is a sign I cant read. there must have been a brandsname on the headstock, but the former owner scratched it away and left a 1 milimeter deep whole that he painted again with clearpaint. the neck is 3-ply, the nut is glued at the end and the trussroad is at the headstock. if you have further questions or need more fotos, let me know.

I don't know that Tacoma ever built a strat copy :-) They make some damn fine acoustic electric guitars though :-)

How much did you pay (in what currency)?

For what its worth, the truss rod on my '77 Silver Series Strat is at the body, not at the headstock.

Your neck plate makes me wonder though... Is the "refinished" part on the headstock about the right size for your basic "Ibanez" script logo?

It could be a Franken-Strat, put together from leftover pieces.

hi brntm,

I paid a 135,-- euro wich is abaout 170,-- usd encluded a set of new strings and a belt. it is a bargain if you just think about the pus!

hi peter,

I reas in some threads in here, that there are also silver series strat with the truss rod on the headstock and yes the "refinished part" is excactly were the logo should be.

Looks like an Ibanez to me. Not a Silver Series, though. Looks like there is missing a white trusrod cover. And the 3ply neck is also Ibanez like.

hi olaf,

yes you are right! there are 3 little holes for a missing trussrod-cover. so the neck probably is ibz, but what about the body and that painting in the neck-pocket? the stamped pickguard and also the stamped middle-pu? did ibz stamped their early single-coils and pickguards? any idea?
