hey!
im new here.. but anyways... an old LP replica has come into my possesion...
im fairly convinced its a 2350 lawsuit... bu im not 100% sure
its got a darker finish... but no headstock!
and dimarzio pickups

I think you mean: without headstock logo?

Now that is what you call without an headstock. By the shape of the fretmarkers you can tell it is a standard copy. The toggle inbetween the pots is likely non original.
What makes you think it is an Ibanez?

So it really WAS "without a heastock", literally!
I think that repair has no use; I'd rather try to get a replacement neck. So keep a close watch at Ebay.....

yah
it really sucks!
but anyways,.... the reason i think it's an ibanez
is it has a few things...
1. on the neck plate it says made in japan, with no serial number, just like my friends ibanz lawsuit telecaster
2. the neck isn't very wide across the fret board
3. it has DImarzio pickups, both the humbuckers
and

woops.... forgot to ask...
so... i couldn't just waltz into a guitar shop, and say.. i need a new ibanez laewsuit 2350 neck,... or something similar?
also... does anyone else have one of these... i'd like to compare pics, and have a close look at the head stock.....
also im sorry about the quality of the photos.. i'm working on some with better quality... buuuut it won't up load them.. i'll figure it out...hopefully

i don't know if ibanez still makes les paul replicas...
it doesn't matter if its the exact same.... even if its close
just so i can play it

Ibanez was pretty much stopped from selling replica guitars, in the US, in 1976. But that wasn't so for the rest of the world, where some models continued to be marketed for a few more years, at best.
So, there's always a chance that you'll find a used neck. Lots of cheap foreign made guitars had "accidents" (like the kind Pete Townsend had on stage) or were "frankensteined" with bizarre mods.
There were a ton of other brand replicas, too. Not sure how much success you'd have trying to fit one of these on your body. Anybody have any stories of retrofitting an Electra, Univox, Antoria (this would be a good shot) or other Japanese made neck on an Ibanez body? |

I am not convinced it is an Ibanez. Practically all the identification possibilities are replaced (or gone....)
Can we see a pic of the back of the body, including neckplate and control cavity?
Retrofitting a neck is possible (I've done it) but will cause problems in finding a fitting neck without heavy modification. I have, at least, three different neck pocket sizes in my Les Paul models, most obvious one is the shift from the pre- to post lawsuit necks. Bigger (wider and higher)heel on the necks as well as the changeds headstock shape.
I'd go for another guitar and keep these parts as spares. Sorry to say so.

up date!!!!
i found a guitar that is verrry similar to my decapitated guitar (thx paul for that one)
it's so closer it hurts...
can i get some other points of view about it?
ive al;ready contacted the owner and hes supposed to be gettn me some pics soon

Did Ibanez ever use the thin thumbwheel tailpiece studs (like on Metalhead's LP)? - none of my Ibanezes do. |

As far as I know these studs were only used on the solid top setneck Les Paul models (2650). In my mind that does make sense because a hollow construction would not be strong enough to hold these small studs in place.
