Hi all, great site!.I'm long time strat player.I have had almost every copy out there over the years.mostly I tried to stay with made in Japan Strats.I just recently sold my trusted 80's Fender MIJ black on black. So I went looking for a new axe.I played about 25 strat in 2 weeks alot of Made in US models ,but nothing was speaking to me.plus the prices where way up there. Then I found her ,she was hanging there just calling me.I was playing the off this old Tele when she caught my eye.I pick her off the wall and right away the weight felt right.she is a solid two piece body maple neck with a bullet trustrod.I plug her into a fender twin, and she sang like a $2000 vintage strat.I try not to look at the price tags when I'm trying new guitars because it can affect the vibe and your mood too.I was really happy when I read $259.00 .Sorry to ramble but I do have some questions about her.I have been told that Ibanez made eldegas for the canadian market.does anyone have details of the history?.
I would love to see some pictures and ads on eldegas strats.thanks KaviRay

Hi Kaviray - it's likely that El Degas was a Canadian importer's brand name, and the guitars came from the same factory which built Ibanez, Fuji Gen Gakki. In the UK we had a brand called Antoria - many of them were identical to Ibanez models, right down to sharing the same catalogue numbers.

Fuji Gen built guitars for a vast range of different brands - including the MIJ Fenders and Squiers.

Hank Marvin of the Shadows played an Antoria before he got the flamingo pink strat from Cliff Richard.
