Hello, I have some questions regarding the Ibanez 2350. There is one I have my eye on. It has a tulip headstock and a bolt on neck.

There appears to be at least one non-original pickup in the guitar. The lead pickup has some sort of engraving and no exposed poles/screws. the other appears to be a standard humbcker - probably a super 70s.

Does anyone have a guess at what the lead pickup might be? Could this be a Maxon single coil?

The Maxon pups have unmarked covers, just like super70's. The engraved pup might be a super80 showing a flying finger or butterfly logo.
Some 2350 came with super80's as well as super70's and Maxon's. All is possible here. Pics might help us out.

Paul, thanks for your reply. I've searched for a pic of the "flying finger" and I beleive that is what was on the guitar I tried. Sorry no pics (I don't own the guitar - yet.) I'm pretty sure they weren't the maxon single coils, I didn't hear any hum, I just wanted to see if it was something I should double check for.

So, it seems this would be a '76 or newer (tulip head stock) with a super 70s neck pup and super 80s lead. Was it common for Ibanez to put in a non-matched pair, or do you think this was a mod?

Either one could be a replacement but I am quite convinced there were never guitars with a non-matched pair of pick ups put out of the factory. Do you happen to know the serialnumber? If it is not a late 1978 number I guess the super80 is the replaced one.

The Super 80's is probably the replacement. It is chrome and I'm pretty sure the original hardware is gold (bridge is only other chrome part). I'll look at the serial number when I get a chance.

They are asking $400 in good (player) condition. Seems reasonable to me, what do you think.
