Hi everyone!
Just trying to trace as precisely as possible the earliest serial number ever found on Ibanez guitars. Somewhere in 1975 it all started. Uptil now the earliest number I have ever seen was J 75.... (I own two guitars with such a number). Has anybody seen earlier numbers (starting with H or I?). Please help me out so we can track the exact time Ibanez started with this system.
Thanx!!
Harry

Harry:

I've wondered about the earliest date in '75, also.

I saw an SG on ebay several months back with a J75 serial number. The oldest serial number I have is G76.

Actually Harry, that is a very good idea !

Orval, I'll bet you can add to this topic.

Hi all!
Thanx for the input! Now we have confirmed by two messages that H75 exists. Curious if somebodymight come up with a G75 or maybe even F75(?). Proven: cooperation can really give us very useful information. Praise this Discussion Forum!
Michael Wright, do you have some useful information on this topic? You must have come across thousands(?) of Ibanez guitars/basses. What's the oldest serial number you've ever seen?
Greetz and thanks again!

Hi everybody!

Just to blow in some new life in this research (so it appears in "last day" and "last week", I think the most-checked folders).
Still in search for the earliest serial number.....is there anybody that can beat H 75 ??
So far these numbers were found on both a Strat and a Les Paul (see messages above).
Cheers,
Harry

Hi Harry,

Sorry I have not had enough spare time to get through more of the guitars but the H75's are the earliest I have found so far.... Still have alot S/N's to get through though.

Mike!
Thanx so far. Keep looking, because I'm very curious if we ever find earlier numbers than H75.
(Don't tell me it's a life-time job for you to check the serial numbers on your guitars, because I might turn green for envy.... ;-) How many guitars do you own?)
Let me know in case you ever find G75 or maybe even F75.
Cheers,
Harry

There is another H75 for sale on Ebay. Here's the link:

I've already decided I'm envious of Mike. His name is in most of the auctions I look at, and he seems to win his share!

Hello Bob!
That's not another H75; I happen to know that this is JohnM's sunburst Strat mentioned above in this string. He is selling it....
But thanks anyway for paying attention and telling here; after all I'm still curious if we ever find an older serial number. So far H75 is still in the gold medal position....
Cheers,
Harry

Sorry Bob.....
I should have looked first......this is not the auction of John's Strat. That auction is in the German Ebay. So we DO have a new one here; a beautiful Les Paul with vine inlay. That makes 3 H75-ers uptil now!

Harry

Harry,

I'll look at my Firebrand tonight. It's a '75 and from memory I think it too is an H. Will let you soon.

Keep rockin'

Hi Harry,

I have now got a computer at home so look out - I'm back!!!!

Just checked the Firebrand - it's an I75.

Looks as though H75 is the earliest at this stage.

Cheers,

Mark

Munch:

Glad to have you back on board!

Have you acquired anything new since we last heard from you?

I just got a '78 2618 and an '83 AR/Roadstar catalog, today. The guitar is great and the cat has tons of good stuff. Including all the specs of the AR1500 (maple top/mahgany body/Ebony board/Super 58s) and AR1505 (spruce top/mahogany body/rosewood board/Super 58 Jazz pups). Both have rosewood overlay on headstock. Neither has tri-sounds.

Man, '83 was good year for the Artist and Roadstar series!

Hi Harry and John,

It's good to be back!!! As a matter of fact my wife is just calling me to the dinner table!!!!

Better go!!!

John, I haven't added anything new to the Ibanez collection but have managed to bag a fantastic Gretsch Duojet.

Cheers,

Mark
