Very curious, gents. Can find nothing that suggests this was ever done, but have come across someone trying to sell an IBZ guitar.

What do you all know?

Liam,
If I understand you correctly you are asking if Ibanez ever made a copy of the Les Paul Custom.
During the mid 1970's Ibanez made lots of Les Paul Custom replicas with the "IBANEZ" Logo on the headstock. All the ones I've ever seen were bolt-on necks. But, I would dare to say that there are probably some Les Paul Custom replicas with set-necks, + the Split-Diamond, + the Open-book on the Headstock. I'm talking serious replica folks!

I might add, I presently own an Ibanez replica of a Gibson ES355 semi-hollow guitar in Cherry Finish.
The guitar has the following:
*Open-book style headstock.
*Split-Diamond on face of headstock.
*Ibanez Logo on face of headstock.
*6-position Vai-tone selector switch
* Nice wide neck, unlike some '70s ES models.
This is one killer guitar!!!

Any Thoughts?

Harold:

My take was that Liam has seen an LP replica on which the headstock actually says: "IBZ" on it, not "Ibanez". Did Ibanez ever sell guitars under the name "IBZ"?

Your 335 replica sounds cool. Does it have the script style Ibanez logo? Stop tail or trapeze? Dot markers? Does it have a sticker inside with a model number?

John,
The ES355 replica also has the following:
*Block Pearl type fret position markers
*Script style "Ibanez" logo
*No sticker inside with the model number
-Get this, the Serial Number is scribed by hand on the back of the headstock
-The guitar used to have the Tremolo system that wraps around the end of the body like a '60s ES355 or SG. It now has a Gibson Stop tailpiece with the 6-Fine Tuning adjustment screws like that on a Gibson ES347 semi-hollowbody. Now the frame part of the old tremolo remains on the face of the guitar. It looks kinda funky but doesn't affect the sound of the guitar.

At this time the guitar is in the shop being Set-up for my New Years gig.

New info for an old thread. Right at this moment there is an Ibanez SG style double neck on Ebay that has IBZ on both headstocks. Seller says it is a 1972 model.

Here's a photo:
