I just got an 85 DT-250 that is missing it's trem arm.

Can anyone recommend a replacement that actually fits?

Or, will someone please post an image of their DT-250 trem arm so I can see what the end looks like?

I've bought (and thrown out) a couple replacements already and I'm tired of guessing.

Thanks, all.

Peter,

This issue has come up before. Your DT250 should have a Powerocker bridge. MOST Powerockers use the same pop-in whammy as an Edge, Pro Rock'r and Lo-pro Edge. SOME apparently have a different receiver and use a different bar.

Here's some reference material:

Bear -

Thank you for the confirmation. I thought I was going crazy.

I bought one of the Ibanez 2LE2-1B as shown in the image posted and it doesn't fit.

I can't get the arm to pop in. It hangs up on the first bushing.

Does it take a *lot* of effort to pop the arm in?

I've never had a trem unit before where the arm popped in.

Thank you,

- Pete

Remove the bushings and test fit it. Sometimes the bushings are a very tight fit. Fair warning, those little bastards will pop of and go flying!

If the bar fits with the bushings off, try installing only one bushing. If it's still too tight, try a tiny dab of Chapstick as lubricant.

I have had situations where I would install the bar with only one bushing until it "broke in" and loosened up a bit. Then I'd install the second bushing to snug it up.

It works fine without any bushings.

I'm tempted to just leave it that way but I'll try the Chapstick trick first and breaking in the bushings one at a time.

Thanks, Bear, I really appreaciate the help.

Bear, you're a genius.

Both bushings on and trem arm installed in under 2 minutes once I used a little Chapstick.

Thanks, again.

Nope, I cannot accept credit for any intelligence. Virtually all of my knowledge comes from trial and error. aka; screwing up!! Example: whammy bar bushings flying across the room never to be found.

Rich Harris (Ibanez Rules) gets credit for the Chapstick tip. He uses it on floating bridge knife edges. Try it, it works!
