All good things come to those who wait. Three and a half years ago, I was here trolling around looking for a line on the Gotoh strap locks that Ibanez puts (used to put?) on their Prestige models. Back then, they would have cost me $60/pair and only if I begged my local dealer to beg his Ibanez rep.

See ICW Post #14331

Since I have been experiencing some GAS lately, I took a stab and discovered Gotoh strap locks are now available at $20 or under at such places as ALLPARTS, and there are even a some on eBay (search "gotoh strap lock" -- I do not see any in the completed auctions -- could my timing be that good?).

Anyway, I ordered a bunch of them and will be putting them on all of my non-collectible axes (will continue to use "Lokstrap" locks on the rest).

IMO the Gotoh's are as good as or better than Schallers and Dunlops -- similar to the Dunlops, but with a bigger locking post -- and I won't have to replace the strap buttons on my Prestige pieces (some of my nicest pieces). I'll bet they come with heftier screws than the others too -- worth the few extra bucks.

Is anyone else fond of them? Is Ibanez still using them? (I lost interest after the 2002 model year because of the hardware changes.)

Kirk Singh

(BTW - Apologies if this post was a better fit for the Workshop forum)
