I just had to share this with my fellow Ibanez lovers. Back in the 80's, my father bought me a 1984 Ibanez DT500CS Destroyer as a "Going away present," when my band started touring the nation. I wanted a Gibson Explorer, but he could only afford an Ibanez. It turned out to be the best guitar I ever had, and had a tone TO DIE FOR!

During our tour, our bus broke down & I had to pawn it in St. Louis to buy an alternator for the bus! I've kicked myself in the for it ever since. On my father's death bed, he remembered that guitar & said, "Boy, wouldn't it be something if you could get that one back..."

Well, I FOUND IT! A wonderful lady just 30 miles south of St. Louis had it on a Craig's List classified. When I told her my story, she deleted all e-mails about the guitar & sold it to me for $350! She even drove clear to Nashville (met me halfway from Alabama), to meet me, give me a hug & make sure I got it in one piece.

It looks like nobody has touched this guitar for 21 years. It still just absolutely SHREDS, and the tone still sings like it did in the 80's!

When she handed it to me, I held it up high & said, "I got her back, Dad!" Miracles do still happen now & then. I'm a happy camper. Here are some pics of it:

Wow,

Thanks guys! I haven't checked back in for awhile. I didn't even think my "story" posted, because I got frustrated trying to get my pics to work. I took real High Res' pics, to show details, and couldn't get them to fit. It was late: I was tired & getting a beer buzz going & said "Aw, heck with it."

I'll give it another shot later. Thanks again guys. It's amazing. This guitar just has a tone that is (AGAIN) blowing my mind! The neck pickup is the sweetest tone I've ever had, (Sorry Seymour: I know I'm an OEM for you with my guitars but these old Ibanez pickups are just PERFECT!).

Last night, I took a trip down memory lane; (This fiddle is taking me home in so many ways). We were re-discovering UFO, Deep Purple, Randy Rhoades, and yeah....even Molly Hatchet. That neck position blows my mind for the 1st solo in "Dreams I'll Never See!" What a swelling sweet tone. And the V-2 in the bridge just says Micheal Schenker on "Rock Bottom."

I'll try and take some lower res pics & get them on this weekend.

Dave

DHC...you can just shrink them using any photo editor including MS Paint. No need to retake them.
Holler if you cant figure it out. In MS Paint it is under "Image" then "Stretch\Skew", then resave...resave as a copy so you don't lose Hi res of the original.

btw...Nice story bro!

And, Molly Hatchet...yep...good ol Southern Comfort nights!

Back to watching Boston blowin it BIG TIME in the 11th...WOW

Alright guys. I cranked the camera way down & tried again. Still ended up with all my pics around 200kb, but I did fenagle (how do you spell that) to get one under 50kb. It's 1:00am, and as much as I wanna show off, I just realized that I wasted an hour I could have been fondling this guitar! Here's a full frontal shot. Gotta love it: full front.

CHEERS,

DHC

Let's go here: I did a "Photobucket" album. Hope this link works!

This is a cool indepth look inside an all original DT. That reminds me: The selector knob & strap buttons did get changed. If anybody has one of the flat top creme selector knobs or a pair of gold Boomerang straplocks, let me know!

Thanks & check it out!
