AR300 - replace the replacement nut?

I bought it used (probably at least 3rd hand) The nut has been replaced, but it was a clumsy job - not really flush on the treble string side of the neck. What would this do to the value of the guitar? But you could always call and ask 1st. Email me and I can point you in the right direction for a luthier on Route 1.   Gemberbier Username: Gemberbier Registered: 5-2006 Posted on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 8:23 am:    Freak, IF it's not under warranty and the bone is still intact, couldn't he just use a 2K glue to put the two pieces together? Cheaper than driving to Bensalem or having it done by a luthier. I have used it for making jewellery out of seashells and bismuth crystals on standard metal ear clips. The original nut was already replaced and the job was poorly done. I'd take his advice. BTW, some people might not consider the bone/brass nut an upgrade. Even Hoshino dropped this nut for the graphite one and then that was dropped, too. Tell us more about your AR300. Vintage Violin (?) finish. The only modification that I'm aware of is "Pull-Taps" on the tone controls, which allow for humbucking/non-humbucking for the pickups -- twice as many tones. We're not sure who did that, but most likely not the same person who replaced the nut. Interesting about the bone/brass nut. I just assumed that it would be an upgrade (and we all know what happens when we a**-u-ume). Ibanezfreak has given me info about a luthier who has done some good work for another forum member, so I will be interested in hearing what he has to say about that.
