He should offer about 3 of those to get this amount of money. Stay away from that BIN button! Actually, I don't understand that this guy is focussing on the USA with the actual exchange rate, doesn't he read the paper? Really pathetic... There are plenty AR100 guitars on eBay and there's ICW. I think the problem of this guy might be this purchase, which he wants to finance for 100% with the sale of the AR100: Ebay Item #260174486630 I think he's using two or more eBay identities, and there's nothing wrong with that. The feedback on both identities is 100% positive, so his eBay behaviour is consistent. Another matter... I often take a historic perspective in order to see whether price differences between models of the same era/year are indeed reasonable from that perspective. If we don't look at the factor RARITY, which didn't play a role in the historic price lists, which prices do we find for the AR100 and the 2405CA? If we look at the 1977 pricelist presented on Jim Donahue's website, and we look at the AR100's predecessors, the 2618 and 2619, we see that the 2405CA was in fact the cheapest of these three guitars. http://www.noahjames.com/vintagepage/price.html And the fretboard description of the 2618 and 2619 says EBONY, while that of the 2405CA says EBONIZED, which means "painted black". So from a historical and quality point of view it is defensible that the value of an Artist 2618, 2619, AR100 is at least as high as that of the 2405CA, certainly when the 2405CA is a sunburst, which is the most common colour. So what is it that makes us pay twice the price for a Custom Agent? Are we "in love with curls"? I know one thing: Our Sultan with the curly brides never pays too much for a sunburst. He pays extra for the really rare colours. That's real specialism: knowing exactly what you do. A mix of passion and ratio. I think that many of us only feel the passion if we see that lovely F-mandolin curl, and forget about basic calculations, resulting in spending too much on these beauties. Even I start to see EUR 1266.- for a sunburst as REASONABLE. But IS it? Isn't EUR 700-900 enough? Dave has told me in previous posts to be patient. And that's the only way of collecting in a responsible manner. If you think that you MUST have the models X, Y and Z within 6 months, this pressure results in empty bank accounts. Turning this perspective 180° around, we could also conclude that the AR100 is perhaps UNDERestimated. But I think it is more likely that the sunburst 2405CA is OVERestimated. Fact is that the eBay names start both with "g" and that the amount of money involved in both cases is between $1800.- and $1850.-. One eBay name is seller and the other one is a buyer. IF it's the same guy, he wouldn't be the only collector using two (or more) aliases. We know for instance that luggage4le$$$ and ecomtrust is one and the same collector. It's the first time I see an Greek Ibanez collector operating internationally. I find two at the very same moment not very likely. But I always look for patterns, that's just suspicious me. I even suspect that some ICW members use more than one alias on ICW, which would mean we have a few members less than we think...
