Hey folks!! New member here. Just picked up a really clean 84 fire red AR100. While cleanin her up I opened the electronics back plate and found that metal can. I took the nut off--but she doesnt seem to want to move and I wasnt about to force it--does the whole assembly have to come out to access it(IE: do you have to remove all the volume and tone pot nuts and pull the whole deal out?). Never seen that in aguitar before--but it probably makes for a of a shield. Any info would be appreciated. Man--this guitar rips!!!

Paul, welcome on board. I've removed these cans before...but not on a regular basis. From what I remember, they were a press fit and you really had to work them out of there. You just remove the nut and slowly work it off. Try not to pry as this can dent the metal or wood. It probably has never been removed...the first time is always the toughest. And by the way...you would be correct on the shielding...these guitars are VERY quiet. Congats on the new axe. That fire red color is something I've wanted to add to my stable for some time now. Let me know if you ever want to sell

Paul, as Agr said, it is a very snug fit, and if you add all the dust and such stuff, it can be very hard to open.. But slowly.. :-)
Those cans are also found in "Big G's" and, if we look at other Japan vintage guitars,in Washburn Wing-series..
