Give us a review. How's it play? What kind of pickups, and how do they sound? How's the quality compare to the "vintage" Artists?

I'm in the market for a vintage MIJ Artist, but I'm about to turn the corner and get a new AR300. $559 at GC or $599 at Music 123 with free shipping and no tax.

Short review- The fit and finish are excellent.Has a gorgeous, deep flame (real-not veneer) top. The pic doesnt do it justice. the neck plays beautifully.Pickups are more than adequate. I was looking at one a while back and almost payed full price. If i had I still wouldnt complain .At 299$ its just a steal! Id definately go for the AR 300 for 599$ with its artist inlays and super 58 pickups.

Just stumbled on a used AR250 in brown sunburst (my fav) at GC. Played it for awhile and seemed pretty comfortable and versatile, So I bought it. Ashamed to say I paid more than Rockon but still think it was a good deal. Serial number starts with c91, so I assume its built in '99. Any specs on these guitars still floating around the 'net?

The only thing I'll want to do is put pickup covers on it, and maybe swap in the SD Alnico Pro I have laying around. Any idea what the stock pickups are? Is there a No case, but I have a nice Levy's gig bag at home (just have to take the guns out of it). Too bad I sold the Bob Weir with the case - it probably would've worked fine.

Let you know how it plays thru my gear when I get it home.
