Hello,
Newbie here! I just come upon a "Roadstar" with a neckthru construction. I thought most all Ibanez guitars, save for the "Artist" series-come with bolt on necks. It spooked me to see an older Ibanez without a bolt on neck--- Something said "Buy Me" - so I did!!! All gold hardware on it,Grey volume/tone knob's, gold p.u.cover's,kind of a champane/silver/pearl finish on it, appears to be all original. When I got it home, I found out it's got coil tap tone knob's---COOL! Any help on what model it is as there are no specific #s on it??? SN# D830387- "Crafted in Japan" on the Headstock
Thanx, Gary

RS1400, aka "silver smoker"...a play on the actual color which is silver smoke. Here is a link to the cat from '83.

They're pretty rare birds. you should be able to find out more information by searching this site with the keyword "RS1400".

Congratulations and welcome aboard.

Nice Axe and a keeper. You'll probably never find another one.

I've had my RS1500 since '85. I was also sold on the neck thru construction. This is a strong well crafted guitar. I hope you enjoy yours.

So lets's take stock here. Who among us can claim ownership of a neck through Roadstar?

I have an RS1400SS

They may not quite qualify as Roadstars, but I've got a couple of these:

Jeff,

It looks like you have a few mods on your RS1500.
What's the extra switch between the volume pots?
What's the story on the bridge pickup?

Mine's stock except for the chips and worn gold plating on the bridge.

Thanx for the link's and pic's!!! Look's like the RS1400 catalog pic is exactly what I've got!
Appear's to be a "Stock" guitar by the amount of crud in the P.U. ring screws and around the cavity's! I'll post some pic's this weekend when I get a chance.
Thanx,Gary

TT, Unfortunately a previous owner installed a rail humbucker in the bridge position. The extra switch is a coil tap for that pickup. It gives the guitar a bit more tonal versatility, but I sure wish they would have used a push pot instead of the switch...

Thanx, gary

Wow. I thought mine was rough! Yeah, the yellowing of the clear coat makes the Silver turn Gold.

Hmm... I paid less than the opening bid for mine and it was 100% original.

Can't be 100% certain from just the photos, but they look right to me. The fact that the 3 screw mounting is still intact leads me to believe they're correct.
