One of my best "finds" in a long while has also become a favorite player.

vm1

Big fat Mahogany tone with a VERY generous neck profile, coil taps, and the Ebony 'board really makes it extra fine to play. This thing rings like a bell and is very lightweight. There are a few cheesily touched paint chips and the trem plate is gone, but it is all stock and in overall very good shape. The seller was great to deal with to boot! The only oddity is the '87 serial # - I can't see this officially listed until '89 with a pic of VM and this guitar but no text in the '88 cat. What gives?

Vinnie Moore was playing his model since like 1986 I believe I see him holding the white VM1 like yours in his album from '86, I have 2 VM1s one with '87 serial and one with '89 serial, '87 is white splatter and '89 is cream splatter. So I guess they started making these since '87. These are great guitars I love my VM1s.

It may have been available in Japan a couple years earlier than the USA. Just out of curiousity, what IS the serial number?
