Author Message   Stationc Username: Stationc Registered: 12-2004 Posted on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 - 5:41 pm:    hi, I know that a long time passed, since munch talked about an axstar-telecaster in another thread. As I understood, this guitar never made it to a catalouge and seems to be a little rare. searching the web, I only found 3 of em (2 in ibanez-register and one on a private homepage) but none that is like mine. It seems to have the same specifications, ecxept that my tele is painted in a translucent red with black binding around the body and the fretboard and also the whole fretboard is painted in red!! Is there anybody who knows a little more about this axe? how much were produced. The Serial-No. is H850318 (august 85) and here are the pics would be nice hearing from one of you   Johns Username: Johns Registered: 02-2001 Posted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - 11:22 am:    Stationc: This is an extremely rare Axstar. This is only the second one I've seen. I'd love to see more pictures of it, if you have some. Can you tell us how you acquired it? Probably, only the distributor could tell us more about this particular model. What country are you in?   Stationc Username: Stationc Registered: 12-2004 Posted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - 4:52 pm:    ok john, here we go, but sorry it is just a handy cam!! this axstar has a few dings and two big dongs down to the wood as you can see on the pics. one at the input and one about 10 cm down at the cutaway. I am still missing the trem-arm, but the seller just forgot it. should be here tomorrow. the poties, made of brass, seemed to be black and are almoust gold now, cos this was and will be a players guitar. on the back of the headstock is still a sign from a small guitar-shop. I called this guy today and he told me that he knows this guitar very well. it belonged to the guitarist of his band, who played it for a long time. he just sold it to the guitar-shop when the band split and then they sold it to my seller a couple of years ago. so I am actually the third owner. he told me that this guitar was first sold mei roland meinel, the german ibanez-distributor and cost about 1.000,-- german Marks, wich is now a little more than 500,-- euros (about 610,-- us-dollars). he told me that it is a rare axe. he believes, that no more than 1000 teles have been made. and he told me that there must be a stratocaster-axstar!!??!! john, the other axstar that you have seen, was it in the same color? have you got a hint for me, how to restore these 2 ugly dongs and have you got an idea what it is worth.   Stationc Username: Stationc Registered: 12-2004 Posted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - 4:56 pm:    me again, sorry, I always forget to introduce myself. my name is Maggy and the username stationc should have been my password, so I do not know, if I should change it. greets MAGGY   Stationc Username: Stationc Registered: 12-2004 Posted on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 - 2:54 pm:    hi again, the axstar ist complete! the seller sent me the trem arm! but is there anybody, who can give me a little more info bout this git? greets maggy   Arney Username: Arney Registered: 10-2004 Posted on Friday, September 02, 2005 - 11:58 am:    Guys, If Maggy were to take this guitar to an expert luthier and had it restored to original condition, since it is so rare, would it negatively affect its value or collectability? If you owned this guitar would you have it restored or leave it as is? The argument could be made that it is best to keep the guitar as near mint as possible; or, its dings, dents, etc. give it character and it should be left as is. As far as I am concerned I think it would depend on the guitar itself. For example, if I owned Stevie Ray Vaughn's old "number one" guitar, before its neck was destroyed, I would leave it as is because the guitar was famous due to its owner and due to the tons of character it possessed. This particular guitar, not being famous in its own right, I think I would have it restored to mint condition. What do you guys think? I surely would have known a little more bout this one (by the way, there is nothing to restore, it is all original, just two dongs I can repair with a little color), but ok, I know it is rare and even more rare then that case, everybody is talking and discussing about. and probably more rare than 98 % of other ibanez-guitars like musician, artist, iceman, rocket rolls, and what else. tks anyway arney but I am really disappointed! greets to u maggy   Lespaul Username: Lespaul Registered: 10-2004 Posted on Monday, September 05, 2005 - 1:01 pm:    Hey Maggy, Don't get upset. I myself can not tell you anything about it. Not because I am not interested but because I do not know anything to tell you. I know the guys around here are very helpful and if you do not get response on your postings that is more than likely not because nobody is interested. Anybody can nagg about an old case but not anybody has something decent to tell about your axstar. Like you already know, they are quite rare. Please be a little patient. If someone has some info they will chime in. I can assure you that if someone on the forum had more knowledge to share about your rare guitar, that they would have spoken up. Could it simply be that no one knows anything about your guitar? Have you considered submitting pictures to the Ibanezregister? My point being, that you should not be offended because no one stepped forward with information on your guitar. Chances are, no one has any more info than what you already know. Never in a catalog, and I've never seen one on ebay. Since you have one, YOU are the expert. I wouldn't fix the paint chips. Just leave that alone and enjoy playing and staring at it (or sell it to me!). Probably only someone who worked for Ibanez who might remember something about it could give you more information, like how many were made. A super wild guess would be that 25 or fewer were made, but who knows? I think that if there were more than 25, I would have seen at least one on ebay. I have three or four Axstars, but nothing like yours. Now I am the axstar-expert!?!? so come on guys, ask me. I will tell you everything.... (just kidding). do you mean just about 25 of this color or do you mean 25 in different colors? I am wondering that you did not see this on ebay. I shot it in german ebay 6 weeks ago and I have seen, two other tele-style in the web, but none with a painted fretboard. that is all I can say. This is just a wild guess, but I am guessing 25 or less total, regardless of color. But I am speaking from a US perspective. Maybe they sold these to Europe in higher numbers. I have seen a red Axstar Tele myself in Australia, but a very long time ago. I also (90% sure) saw a black one with red binding and dots!! The one I mentioned in that earlier thread is still sitting in the same music shop, totally unloved. It is a creme colour with black headstock and rosewood fretboard. What are you going to be playing on that red baby? Its gotta be some Ratt or early Crue!!! I'll check out the deal and let you know. You must look up a song called Hot Chilli Woman by Noiseworks. They are a band from New Zealand and that song flat out rocks. It would be a perfect song for that Hot Chilli guitar. I got too many guitars (about 70), too many boxes, to many of everything but still not enough (got a deet to sell?)(lol). and hi bikemike, I red that walter becker thread. I agree absolutely, but whenever I decide to sell one or two of my guitars, I find some reason not to sell it. prices are too low at ebay at the moment, people have got no more money cos they were in vaccation, so wait til christmas-time. or this guitar looks better than the others, or feels better, or sounds better, or sounds just different, or, or, or, or....., never ending story. the only guitar I sold the last two month was my 1982 ibz-flying v rocket roll 2. it was sold for the buy it now price of 888,-- euros. it just lasted 4 hours and 5 minutes. the austrian guy who bought it said, he would have paid 1.100,-- euros for it. ok, hopefully the first step to get lose of that G.A.S. tks to you all maggy   Munch Username: Munch Registered: 02-2001 Posted on Saturday, October 08, 2005 - 6:11 pm:    Hi Maggy, I have sent you the MP3 - let me know if you like it.
