Hello - Newbie here,

I just picked up an '84 RG1010Sl Steve Lukather Ibanez, and it's a pretty sweet guitar except for the bridge. It has a ProRock'r Tremolo that won't stay in tune. I've looked all over the web and can't find a site that describes how these things work, how to set them, or even how to change strings.

Can anyone point me to a site where this info might be found? I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks,
Dean

From catalog archives on Ibanez Rules site...

Pro Rock'r

As for staying in tune...set it up so that it's flush against the body, put on 5 springs and tighten them all the way, take the trem arm off. That should do it. Yeah, I'm laughing, but it's the honest truth. I always wondered who did the R&D on the '80s trem designs. Just awful.

Thanks Craig - I appreciate the link. Last night, I decided to take the assembly apart to see if I could figure it out, and I think I did a pretty good job of getting the basic functions straight. I did set it flush to the body and I also blocked it - we'll see how that works. The whole concept is interesting, but there seems to be so many areas where intonation can be lost.

The guitar itself is very nice, and my son has more or less confiscated it - he gets the pretty guitar and I get the old Guild S-70.

Again, thanks for the link.

Dean
