Hi all, this is my first post here =) I just bought an SB-70 on ebay for US$399 which I know is a bit steep but it had all original hardware and was in decent condition, plus the fact that i'm in Australia and its pretty rare to find any studio/musician body-shapes so I thought it'd be okay to go a bit overprice ;). Anyway the seller says there was only 300 made, is this true? And how much would be a sensible price for one of these be?
It should be arriving sometime next week so i'll put up some pictures then if anyone wants to see

Gibbs, make a search here, there are several threads on SB70.. The legend is, those were made from leftover Studio bodies and Blazer necks, the latter is true, but the story about Studio bodies...that might be partially true, BUT the body material in my SB 70 is sen-ash, not mahogany.. So there must have been at least some specially for SB70:s made bodies..
The build number could well be 300. This guitar was in production for only a short time.

Thanks Fox,
I had no idea of the change of wood type. Thanks for clearing up the myth.
Are they worth much?

Gibbs, the value is quite hard to estimate..because they are not so often seen on sale, and quite often the seller has little or no idea what he is offering for sale. Maybe in the 250-400 euros region??? Depending on condition, of course. Mine is "severely battle-scarred" but it was way under 250..
