Firstly, it's a 1982. Until now, I think we've only seen 1983 models???

Secondly, I thought the bodies were one-piece Japanese ash. This one has a three-piece body. Check out the stripe.

It certainly has its share of belmishes and the tuners have been replaced. They seller wants $500 with the original case which is more that AR30's usually go for, however, it is unusual...

What do you think? Can anyone comment on their AR30??

I'm guessing the 'stripe' is the thru neck? IHMO, the burst is much nicer than the black model.

Since this was made November of 82 it was probably sold in the stores in early 83 and was made to be an 83 year model. I think during this era by the end of each year (Nov and Dec) they were making the next years production models so this is really a 1983 year model. It looks nice and $500.00 seems to be a fair price.

Mike, There is nothing really unusual about this guitar other than the model is somewhat rare (but underappreciated). The construction with the center stripe is consistent with every example I have ever seen for this guitar (I own 4 of them)d, including all the posts to this site
Total produce in 1982 was (November and December only) BK 206 guitars BS 286 guitars in 1983 they made BK 630 guitars and BS they made 664 guitars.

The model is a 1982 AR30 model. This was a budget AR made to lower production costs on the model. The body is actually Japanese Ash, If you look close at the picture you can see the ash grain. the electronics are wired in one area to say cost of a person wiring the switch way up o the horn. The Bridge is a cheaper bridge than the Gibraltar they used a stock Japanese made tuno-matic that has a lower cost than the Cast Gibraltar. The model did not ever make it to a catalog that I know of they made them in Black and Brown Sunburst

$500 seems fair to me, but very high as compared to past EBay sales. These guitars in both colors rarely break $350 on open bid auctions.

Are the pups V2's or 70's? Can you compare the AR30 vs AR100 in terms of sound & playabilty? How about the ash factor?

Pickups are Super 70's.........A single new old stock super 70 just sold for over $200.00 on Ebay a few nights ago. This guitar should compare very well to the ar100. With the info that Dave provided and the fact that the tuners are not original and also looks to maybe have a few scratches on the body I would offer the seller $300.00 to $350.00. Sounds like $500.00 is kind of high. There is a black one on ebay now and the seller is asking $450.00

Here is the AR30 that is on Ebay now. Its an early 83 model. Notice the knobs are the later style. I like the early style better.
