Turbot 580T & Ballback 580B Quartet

On the flanks are the 580B Ballbacks, and in the middle are two 580Ts, the Turbots (flatfish). They have USA (Bensalem, PA) neckplates, except the green turbot-- apparently completely MIJ. They were made approximately 20 years ago. The Ballback came in the two finishes you see here. They have wooden pickguards. The b & w one is so classy-- you know, it's hard to photograph a black guitar and do it justice. Ditto with the natural mahogany model-- the see-through finish stunningly shows of the grain so it appears 3-D when you move it slowly in the light. The body appears to be one piece. The trem is recessed, so it's not in your way so much. The Turbot was available in the green you see above and also pink-- okay, Ibanez called it pearl heather--- whatever; it's pink! The black one above is the second I have seen, and it's the factory finish, although black was not shown in the catalog. These models were also called Roadstar Pro Models, which might show some confusion as to how to market these guitars, as they are soooooo different from Roadstars. I have a few Roadstars, so I am not knocking them. Both of these 580 models (Ballback and Turbot) are very creatively contoured, for one. These models disappeared almost as soon as they were made, certainly not for a lack of quality, playability and sound! Cool guitars! All are rare and unique, especially the two in the middle, which are light, super comfortable to play, have superb playability and a raw, rock out sound when driven. Enjoy!
