I need to post a really dumb question, so forgive me in advance. I have a Talman with a Bigsby vibrato and I am having major difficulties getting this thing restrung! It is the model Bigsby that has string "posts" that the little rings are supposed to go onto. The problem is when I go to thread the string through the peg head post it pops off the vibrato! Does anyone have any tricks or tips to get these type of Bigsby's restrung?

Thanks!

You need to keep tension on the string. Using 2 hands while threading will help. Also use a hand wound string winder once you thread them into the pegs.

Use a capo. I don't know why this simple trick isn't common knowledge.

When re-stringing Bigsbys all I do is pre-bend the string adjacent the ball end. I then keep tension on the string using two hands whilst I thread and wind the string onto the tuning peg.

Other people wedge a pencil eraser under the Bigsby to hold the string in place while threading/winding.

Cheers,

Mark
