I just received my 2nd AR3000! This one is brand spanking new. The frets are factory fresh with zero wear. #1 is in very nice condition too, however, you can tell it's been played. #2 is truly mint. This one is serial number 21 and she's a beauty! Check out the tiger stripe!

btw...one of my AR3000's will be for sale real soon. I interested, let me know...

That spooky figure on the neck pickup isn't very nice
And I prefer blond (semi) hollowbodies

Nice score. Thats about the condition of mine never played except for a handful of times for a few minutes. That is the earliest number I've seen.

Freak: I wonder if there were two numbering series: one for Japan(?) and one for USA market? I think the other one I own is in the 100's and so is yours and as far as I know, not too many of these were made.

Ibanez did do that in the past, especially with effects and I'm pretty sure with guitars too.

MK I can't answer that, I do know they were built to order from Hoshino USA they didn't have them laying around. Very limited quantity. That is why I value the AR3000 a little mor then its previous AR2000. Only 1 year of production verses several of the previous. 25 units imported to HoshinoUSA according to Paul Specht.

That's not correct. It's the date of purchase by the last owner.

Seems like the production number after F04 has nothing to do with the number of AR3000's. I think they stopped producing AR3000's for a while and waited until new orders came in. Meanwhile production of other models brought the overall production number at an over 160700 level. Again a bunch of them were produced and they stopped again, waiting for new orders.
Then at a production level of 25400 they made another bunch and at production level 36000 they did the same.
So, it looks like they had a lot of other models to make in 2004.

ginger I realised that mistake after i hit post. Although I don't know if my purchase date is correct I'd have to check my Purchase Order slip. I know I paid for it before I saw it and ordered it 2 months in advance. April of 2004.

Well, you have one and paid for it. That's more than I can say.
There are a lot of ???? in that list.
Unbelievable! Did these guitars all fall of a truck?
I think it's wise to keep your receipts if you own such valuable items, in order to prove that they didn't.

Freak: did you purchase the little picture book from Hasenobu? Check out page 159/160 (it's the last guitar featured): there it is, the RAR1AV. I asked Hasenobu about that that guitar and I forget what he said. If you look carefully at the picture, you'll see a ding (or picture artifact) on the between and to the right of the pickups.

While you're at it, check out page 158: 2003 AR5000VV?? Looks like a spralted top. Other than that, how is it different than the AR3000 you & I own?

OK - regarding the book, I found Hasenobu's answers to my questions. In particular, check out the last two:

---------

Michael:
>- page 70 - gold top AR300

This one is pretty rare here. As far as I know, AR300GL were
made only in (perhaps, the early months of) 1983. The model
was listed in a catalogue:
http://www.geocities.jp/ar_lovers_room/catalogues/1983_03/1983_0302.jpg

>- AR330's - how do they differ from AR300?

AR330 is a limited version with "bird's-eye" figured maple top.
This is not a catalogue model, and produced as a "spot" model.

>- AR550's - how do they differ from AR500? Notice how the one
>on page 123 has something inscribed on the inlay between the
>20th & 21st fret, and the others don't. Is it possible that
>they only have one tri-sound? They seem to be missing something...

For the details of the AR550, please refer to the Data Spec
sheet in my website:
http://www.geocities.jp/ar_lovers_room/ARdata/eARmodellist.html

AR550, which was a replacement of AR500, doesn't have tri-
sound but duo-sound. As to the inlay you noticed, it says
"Y.SUZUKI." The guitar shown on p.123 was originally a 1981
AR300CS, but the present owner spent a lot of money to modify
it into something like the "AR500 special" his adored musician
Mr. SUZUKI Yasuhiro played. (Mr. Suzuki is shown in the
catalogue scan mentioned above.)

>- what are the RAR models?

The first "R" stands for "Rock-Inn," which is one of the
biggest musicshops here. Rock-Inn shops have long contributed
the sales of Ibanez guitars, so, RAR model are, so to speak,
collaboration model made by Rock-Inn and Ibanez.

>- the AR2000CRS - ok, I'll fess up - I have one!

Yes, I know well. :p

>- page 149/150 - an AR3000VV w/ tri-sounds?

The tri-sounds are, of course, installed after purchase.
I believe I wrote some things about this modification in
somewhere in this forum.

>- page 151 - AR3005CRS?

This is one of the (maybe) 6 speacially made guitars.
Its top material has bird's-eye, or, blister-like grain,
and the inlays are of similar but different type to those
on normal AR300's.

>- page 154 - AR4000CS?

This model is one of the rarest AR's. It was listed in
a catalogue, but Ibanez made this model only after the
order was placed.
http://www.geocities.jp/ar_lovers_room/catalogues/1986_03/861920.jpg

>- page 157 - AR5000VV from 2003?

Yes, this is very funny, but Ibanez seems to have made this
particular as an experiment and given it the name of "AR5000"
for some reason. (At least this is what the owner was told
from a clerk when he bought it.)

>- page 159 - RAR1AV?

Yes, almost the same as the above applies to this one.

I didn't get the book MK but I did see some of those guitars on his site. The 2003 AR5000 was nice. Not sure is it was the same as the 3000 other than the top or not.

I wonder if the Rock Inn is still available? I wouldn't mind owning one of those. Both finishes look tastey.
This thread inspired me to pull my 3000 out of hiding today. I played the crap out of it and forgot how sweet that guitar sounds and plays.
