What does the seller mean by using this ambiguous word?
It looks strange to me. I wonder how the wood is under that clear.
And a brass nut standard?

See the line runnng down the back side of the body thats a gouge.

Or is the body almost split in two and is the top holding it together?
If you look very well into the cutaway on the controls side on picture 5, what do you see?

Anyway, it went for $365.-
And I think he's glad he got rid of it.

I think the only gouge in that auction is the shipping cost.

Guys....That "gouge" is an issue with this model of Artist. I have a White one (also an '82) with the exact same issue. Basically the factory did not properly glue the rear laminate cap correctly leaving a void, the wood of the body and the thin cap expand/contract differently, leaving a crack. I never thought that Ibanez would put a veneer cap on the back of a guitar that is being painted, but they did. I think that the painted ones are the guitars that failed inspection for the grain on the top and were then painted either White or Red..........

Ah ha interesting Dave!Ive surprised w/ the craftmanship of Ibanez M.I.J.-that they would let a guitar leave the factory like that.
