I would guess this is a custom shop item, right? Interesting piece of playing by Vai.

He still amazes me. I've seen him live about 8 times. My ears still aren't right from the David Lee Roth tour. Can tell by the video but is the bottom 6 string fretless?

Bottom six string appears to be fretless. Did you notice the use of the looping machine?

Also, he had the 12-string set up to give some sort of increasing chorus, like the swell of an organ.

He's big on the Eventide Harminizor. I believe that's what the 12 was hooked into.

I remember reading a comment on one of the Vai and Satchs jams sessions-"Why dont they do a C/D together" I think that would be great! They really should do some studio recording together.(not G-3 stuff)Serious recording!

Well, of course this IS G3, but here's three of the greats. Overlook Yngvie's heavily scalloped Fender.

What would you call a concert with Vai, Satch, Gilbert, Andy Timmons, Dave Weiner, Paul Bouillet and Tony MacAlpine?

G7...isn't that an economic summit meeting?
G3 x 2 + 1...too much math.
Oh yeah...the Ibanez JEM 20th Anniversary Bash! And believe me, it was loud.
