I bought this Artist in Germany as a 1983 AR300 (ser.Nr. J830139), but I am not shure about this (I think the AR300 had a maple top and not a burl mahaghoni top).
Someone has replaced the Pickups by EMG Pickups and the guitar sounds like sh... Is there someone outside, who can tell me how I get the guitar back to the orginal specs? How did the electronic work, were there only the Pickupswitch and simple coilsplitting? Thanks for your help!

What you have is an '83 AR305. The 5 at the end denotes the burl mahogony top. It looks like a beauty, too!

The original pickups would be Super 58s, which you can still buy from Ibanez.

The 2 mini-switches would each have 3 positions: humbucker, parallel or single coil. Take a look at this page for a wiring diagram:

Several of us have AR305s...we LOVE them!
