I haven't been on the site in awhile, and I got to admit I have missed it a bit. I was got through with my daily 90 minute block of practice, (always reaching!) and I've got to say something about this RG I have w/EMG's. If you haven't heard of this yet, your not alone. I got this guitar in a pawnshop in my hometown and it is somewhat of a mystery still. I added a "message" back in Feb. of this year and got a bunch of responses that was unable to respond too. (Sorry!) Anyway, if anyone is playing with the idea of adding EMG's to an Ibanez they own, all that I can say is "Just Go For It!" (Steve Vai, Ultra Zone.) The pickups respond very well as long as you change the battery every 30 to 40 hours of playing time. The only thing I've noticed is they way they drop off when you play a chord and let it ring, and then switch to a lead line. Oh well, what PU doesn't do that to some extent? So I guess what I'm try'n to say is to keep creating and always remember, it's not how many notes you play, but the way you play 'em....

Have fun,
Bobby E.

Bobby,
Interesting to hear what you say about that combo.
Can you tell me, are you using a 81 in the bridge or what EMG exactly, Do you have a neck pickup as well.I have a project RG550 underway and haven't made a final pickup choice as yet. What model RG are you using as well.

Shane,
I'm using an 81 in the bridge, an 85 in the neck, and also my middle position is an EMG as well. My local guitar store guy beleives he installed these in this very guitar for a customer a couple years ago. He didn't mention what the mid postion was. (It is in a single coil slot) My axe is a '91 RG 570, Butterscotch in color with the grain showing and also a flame top. (Could be a photo maybe) The case that came with it reads "Ibanez Presige Deluxe" on a plate by the handle. The guitar has a really "Hot" sound, not a lot of booming lows, but also not a lot of "ear-piercing" highs. I hope I've been somewhat helpful.
Good luck with your axe.
