I am trying to learn more about these guitars, mainly how many different models where available and what are the differences. What colors, what woods, what pickup configurations, high end and low, Korea vs japan how to tell the difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kborg:

There are answers to many of your questions in this thread:

Cool Contemporary Electrics: Anybody out there
owns a Ghostrider series too?

Maybe someone else can fill in the gaps.

Kborg,

I don't have my catalogs in front of me, but I'll give you what I can from memory. Three models were offered; GR520, GR320, & GR220. The 520 had a burst finish with INF (Infinity) pickups. The 320 had 2 humbuckers (not sure which ones) and a cool Telecaster type bridge. I've only seen the 320 in black. The 220 used P-90 type pickups. All were set-neck construction. I believe the bodies were mahogany with maple caps. I'll dig out the books tonight and see if I can add any more useful info.

Cheers
Steve

Okay, reading from the 1995 catalog;
(Only the GR520 & GR220 are shown)

"alder body/maple top combination"
"set-in neck"
"The 'Maserati' of the line, the GR520, boasts a pair of meaty INF humbuckers, a lovely carved top, gold hardware. pearl/abalone block inlays and either vintage sunburst or orange sunburst finishes. The new GR220 is a far funkier beast that has cool, minimalist dot-inlays, chrome hardware, a carved maple top, and two GRP90 pickups for more of a vintage vibe. Finishes come in black and an enchanting transparent blue."

"Both Ghostriders feature the full tune bridge, 22 frets, a bound rosewood fingerboard, and some of the most screaming tones around. Not for the faint of heart."

"Neck material mahogany."

Steve:

Alder bodies with maple caps, that's an interesting combo.

"cool, minimalist dot-lays"..."enchanting transparent blue." Sounds like the copywriter was getting paid by the word/adjective? :)

John,

Ghostrider owners swear by 'em. Alder/maple would make for a bright tone. Couple that with hot humbuckers... I can hear the screaming now! Makes me wanna find one.

Cheers
Steve
