I went to Guitar Center the other day and saw a white RG320DX (sharktooth inlay) without the pickguard and 2 humbuckers (5way lever) with a really cheesy but neat Spawn graphics on it. They were two decals about 4-5" tall and had a little yellowing around the edge of the image (how I knew they were decals). Apparently these are actual models you can order from Ibanez thru a Guitar Center. They have their own color code abbreviation after the model number, so I know they weren't quick knock offs or custom made items. Plus they were on the cheap ass RG models with the single locking tremolo.

Has anyone one else seen any other custom RG's or guitars for sale at retail shops that look as if they came straight from Ibanez? I wonder if they make a Spiderman one or something. Still wondering about the Custom USA Snakeskin/leopardskin RG's.

That sounds like BS. Ibanez will do custom runs for large chains but only colors. Not graffics. Plus, if they were going to do a model with graffics again, they would do a higher end RG. Not a 320DX. I think he was feeding you a line of garbage. GC will do that...

Pablo,

I would think that any factory created graphics would exist under a clear coat lacquer to protect the decals from the ravages of time. If the decals are on the surface of the guitar I would say that either the dealer, the distributor, or a previous owner stuck them on.

Mark.

Fellas,

First of all, I physically saw the guitar itself, played it, fondled it, and looked closely at it. It was a brand new "out of the box" guitar (no scratches, cept the ones I left) and the decal was under the lacquer.

Second, all Ibanez guitars have a model followed by a number, then a color description (example RG 550 BK ). This one was labeled by guitar center as RG320DXSP which meant it was an RG320 as a deluxe (bound fingerboard & sharktooth inlays) and since it was WHite with a SPawn decal, it is only logical that SP stands for Spawn not white (which is WH for all ibanez instruments).

I dunno why they put it on such a crappy model, or did a crappy job with the artwork/decal, but it was there and I did play it. The only thing the guy at GC said was that they were rare but come in periodically. I sort of believe him because I have a Rosewood Taylor 420 model and an Ibanez SF420 sabre (which is for sale). I dunno who the stoner is that gave these guitars the numbers, but neither have been available by Taylor or Ibanez. Both I bought prior to the advent of a new guitar model (Taylor's 300 Sapele models & Ibanez's S-classic models). Basically I was just wondering if anyone has seen any DIFFERENT ones. I have been tempted to buy it and then hot rod it, but I figure why bother, and just spend the money on a better model and go buy some stickers.

Thanks for your input. if anybody see any other cool graphic Ibanez RG or others, drop me a line

This month's (Dec) Guitar Center mailer/catalog feautures a picture of this guitar in question. If i get access to a scanner I'll scan it for anyone interested. My original question is whether or not anyone has seen other "one-off's" and what images are on them. So for us west coast people who don't have a "Sam Ash" or have access to the "Musician's Friend" store drop us a line here if you have seen or see a model not in the Ibanez catalogs.

Rock out--
James
