Author Message   Williamwilson (Williamwilson) Posted on Thursday, July 04, 2002 - 1:26 am:    I bought this on eBay a few weeks ago and I'm trying to identify it: Its at my Dad's place in Pittsburgh right now and he's in Finland for a month (aargh!), so this all I know: Serial Number:P704*** Bolt-on neck The headstock says "Roadstar Series" and the Ibanez slash logo H/S/S pickups, unmarked Chrome hardware 22(?) frets Fretboard position markers are 3/16" "Rubies" and the facets are slightly higher than the surface. Body is a uniform thickness, with belly and arm contours. Body is solid wood and has a clear finish. Volume/Tone/5-way pickup switch. Oh, and its made in Korea (eww!) Any ideas? Does anyone have an '87 catalog that shows the Roadstar line? PLEEAASE!   Mr_Roadstar (Mr_Roadstar) Posted on Saturday, July 06, 2002 - 3:45 pm:    What type of trem does it have? (tough to tell from the photos) If it's an Edge, then I'll go with a late '87 production, 1988 RG340 with the finish stripped. If the trem is a Powerocker DX, then it's an 1987 RG240 with the finish stripped. This is the only pic I have of the guitar for the moment, I'm afraid. That trem puzzles me, too. Its not tapered like the Powerocker and it looks like it has fine tuners, but it's the wrong outline to be an Edge. As far as a refin goes, were the RG340/240 solid wood or plywood (this body is solid)? And how about the red "jeweled" position markers? Do they ring a bell? I guess I'll just have to wait 'til dear old Dad gets back from Finland...   Mr_Roadstar (Mr_Roadstar) Posted on Monday, July 08, 2002 - 12:53 pm:    The Powerocker DX, was a one year only (1987) mutation of the Powerocker with added fine tuners. Never seen one in person. To the best of my knowledge, only a few low end Roadstars ever had plywood (laminated) bodies. Anything in the 200 series and above will be solid wood. Most were basswood. As for the "red jeweled" fret markers, I'm stumped!. Never seen such a thing. Cheers Steve
