I have a RG7620 and a RG560 , which the sound is very different. It's a lot more power in he 7 string. I have got the DiMarzio evolution on my 6 string, but still it's a lot weaker than the 7 string, which is original. I wonder if it has something to do with the pick-ups, which is direct mounted on the RG7. I read on the jemsite, the RG7 had american basswood body, compared to the RG560 has basswood body from "I don't know"
Japan? Is there anybody who has got the same problem.
I asked Paul Gilbert once,(on a clinic) but he didn't know either. He is now using direct mounted pick-ups on his PGM.
