Help me identify this Roadstar II gui...

Author Message   Guitarworkz (Guitarworkz) Posted on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 8:27 am:    Well I haven't bought this guitar yet, I saw one a few months ago and didn't snatch it up right away, came back a day later and it was gone from the store. What I saw was a Roadstar II with a bound maple top, sunburst finish, 3 single coils with 5-way selector but NO pickguard. I believe it had a hardtail brige. Sound familiar maybe? I look on the vintage Ibanez site but I didn't see any pics of the guitar I'm talking about. I really want to get one of these babies now, it's like a sickness or something. Hehe. Help me out Ibanez junkies!   Guitarworkz (Guitarworkz) Posted on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 8:29 am:    When I say NO pickguard the electronics had a rear access, so no pickguard to cover the nice maple top. The pickups were top mounted and an ivory color. If anyone has a model # that would be great, I can keep an eye out from there.   Craigjc (Craigjc) Posted on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 8:36 am:    If it has a rosewood fingerboard and a Tremelo unit, it would be an '83 RS505. I don't know of any other Roadstar II that matches your description. Look at the discussion under Vintage & Custom Electrics titled "Does Anybody own a Roadstar?" for pictures. The neck is very similar to an early 60's Fender. Not many guitars have necks like that anymore...if I saw one in a music store, I wouldn't be able to leave without it.   Mr_Roadstar (Mr_Roadstar) Posted on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 11:34 am:    Craig's right on the money. The RS505 used a HardRocker trem. There was only 2 models with triple singles and no pickguard, RS1500 & RS505. The RS505 was the only one with a bound top. I bet it won't be cheap shipping from Australia to the US. Unmarked top, clean hardware, meaty rounded frets, no dings. It has minor buckle rash on the back - but that's to be expected. The case is showing some wear however. I guess I'd let it go for $800 AUS, which converts to $440 USD plus shipping. Cheers, Mark
