Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie here. I have a Talman, 3 lipstick PU's, 'surf green' in color (which makes it a TC530, i think), Serial No: F502761, which according to www.ibanezregister.com, makes this a 1995 model, the 2761st guitar made in Japan that year. My question: were all 94-95 made of the resoncast material? Is there a way i can tell w/o removing any finish? Also, does anyone have info regarding resoncast as a material? Finally, what have people seen these resoncast models being sold for?

Any light you may be able to shed would be greatly appreciated.

Kevin,

The '94 AND '95 catalogs list them all as being resoncast, but you should be able to verify this by removing the screw holding on a strap button, and looking at the exposed material.

Fom what I've seen, average Talmans, regardless of year or body material, generally sell for $200 to $350 US. $300 is probably the typical price.

I have a '94 Talman with the fake flame maple finish over a resoncast body. The resoncast seems to be a fine powder bonded together with some mystery material (epoxy resin?). The powder could be very fine sawdust, but it's impossible to tell. Surprisingly, the resoncast body is quite resonant and loud acoustically.

In my opinion, Talmans are a very good value for the money right now - not quite an Artist or Musician series guitar, they're still quite playable. Also, later models (post 1995) were made from real wood and were also made in Korea. The resoncast model were made in Japan.
