Anyone ever try an Ibanez Flying Pan? I remember a pocket catalog from about 1978 listing this stereo phasing/panning device and I've always wanted one, but I've never even seen one. Had the ccol flying fingers graphic on it.

Yeah years ago in the shop and probably around 78'.

Blue thing, kinda weird if I recall, Didn't think much of it back then but I wasn't really into effects at the time.

Not much use to you there was I Craig? Sometimes I just chat here for the fun of it whilst chewing a sandwich. You can talk and eat with dignity on the ICW website.

That's OK six. I like to chat Ibanez, too, especially while eating (yes, I'm eating right now). I have owned a Firstman Stereo Effector and currently own an Ace Tone Stereo Phasor. I like that swirly, stereo stuff. I just close my eyes and pretend I'm Robin Trower..........

Well guess what?

Here you go... I was going to start a new thread asking what the heck is so special about this effects box at $821 with a day still to go, but I saw this thread already started.

Ebay auction for Flying Pan 777 effects pedal

As an aside there have been warnings about this seller on other vintage boards. I have no direct knowledge myself.

Here's a few pics for the archives, lads...

I'm in shock.
In the 80's I remember seeing a Custom Agent for $325, at a time when I had about $3.25. Now they're $1400.

I always wanted to check out a Flying Pan, but $821 ?! You could buy a Hughes and Ketner Tube Rotosphere AND a Fulltone Stereo Deja Vibe brand new for that price.

1. Aren't prices getting a bit out of hand?

2. Any idea if anyone is planning to reissue the Flying Pan? Appears to be a hungry market for the pedal.

It looks a mess inside the box :O

The mess, I think is the typical decay of the foam used to hold the batter in place. It looks like it'd be easy enough to clean.

Still, while I'd love to own a Flying Pan, I refuse to pay that much money for one. It just goes beyond any limit of reason. I'll just keep begging and hoping that Ibanez reissues the box.

£771.00 so far! What a load of bollocks! That's beyond stupid money. And remember, this auction is in Sterling!

If you're dumb enough to pay it then the old phrase "More money than sense" springs to mind.

I bet Zachary Vex could knock one up in 5 minutes that'll sounds twice as good and without the noise.
