Hello everybody,

Mike The Maniac here.
I recently purchased a 1982 AM-50 in brown sunburst with silver hardware, and stock push/pull pots.
No doubt about the date or the model.
The serial number and label on inside of the body confirm it.
This guitar is 9.0+ without any exageration and the tone is unreal.(even through a 15w tube amp)
I haven't even tried it through the big amp yet or through any effects.(just sounded sweet as is)
I was under the impression that 83' was the first model year for these until i saw it with my own eyes.

Anyone else seen or heard of any 82' AM MODELS??

Mike G.(the maniac)

You know Mike, it occurs to me that an '83 model could be produced in 1982 for the 1983 model year. I had an Ibanez Talman that was definitely a 1996 model but had actually come off the assembly line in 1995 - yours is just one of the first runs :-)

PS - My AM100, which only appears in Ibanez literature for the 1984 model year, was manufactured in August of 1983...

I also have a AM-50 with the serial number show built in '82. It is a fabulous guitar. Was this model only produced in 83'-84?

Tim,

Thank's for adding the info.My AM-50 is dated August 1982.

I'm curious as to how many AM models were put out in 1982.I really wish Ibanez had production #s available or would at least respond to questions that are commonly asked.

I also own an AM 50 produced in 1982.
Ser # H825629. I had purchased a 1983 AS 50 in '83 and owned it up until the early nineties when I gave it to a preacher man for his ministry. I always longed to replace that one because it played so well and felt just right size and weight. Well I finally found her replacement. The AM 50 plays circles around my old AS 50. Incredible versatility and tonality. This one is a keeper, married for life....that is except of course someone offer a deal I can't refuse.
