New gb-10

Author Message   Rguit Username: Rguit Registered: 10-2005 Posted on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 - 10:29 pm:    I just ordered a new GB-10 and was told I have to wait a bit, they are ordered in smaller quantities, any opinions on the brand new bensons Ibanez is making these days and are they the prestige series neck ?? Actually, does anyone know what that means ?? As far as quality, is it equivalent to an "almost" custom shop guitar. I don't own one of the new or Prestige models, but have never read any negative comments on them. The official Ibanez website gives less information than ever on the GB's these days. However as a signature model, it is still made in Japan by Hoshino's top luthiers ('J-Team') from what I've read on the net. Also, I've not seen any new data on the GB pickup output in many years. Maybe others out there can answer your questions. Let us know how you like it after it arrives. After all, that is what really matters. I counted them and there is 22. Not sure why I ever sold it, it sounded great. Its an expensive solution but I think the stock pickup is much too hot for a jazz guitar sound. I like a vintage PAF tone, not much over 8k, I heard and someone tested once the new pickups on the benson and they are like between 10K and 12K. Is that true ??? Anyone Plus for me, I just screw down the bridge pickup all the way down and never use it. Juha Um, Rguit, I was thinking the same thing. GB15's are priced close to GB10's and have a slightly wider nut. My only objection is that they only come in trans-red. Why not natural, sunburst or even black? Hmmm, GB15BK...that would be a good one! If they did, that is what I would have purchased. But I don't like the nickel looking hardware and trans-red color. Not that it should mean that much, I am more concerned with the sound, but there is no doubt the visual aspect of a guitar sometimes affects your playing. The whole pickup question really annoys me, but I still wanted to buy a GB10 so I looked past it. Its my gut feeling that they just take the same exact pickup, neck and bridge so they don't have to make two and that is ridicolous. The neck should be like 8 or 9k at the most,( someone told me it is 12k DC resistance) and the bridge can certainly be hotter. With the GB-10, I don't think they give a lot of thought to the pickups to be honest. I will probably replace the neck anyway. RESISTANCE: that's measured in Ohm or kOhm when the resistance is high such as in coils, AC or DC is totally irrelevant in this respect. I ordered my gb-10 from a reputable dealer, someone I have known for many years, and he stated that they take quite awhile now. Has anyone heard of any production problems, I know they are made by that TEAM jcraft in Japan, and I bought a JSM from them recently and it was great. Its just that the JSM is not really the guitar for my playing style, (mostly tradtional bebop and straighahead jazz). But I like it anyway, I will post pictures shortly of my 77 JS copy that I modified, JSM and now I hope to get the GB-10.
