I pawned my 2630....never again!

I have a motorcycle project I have been trying to complete, and I needed an infusion of cash. I borrowed a measly $500 against the guitar (and this baby is clean as can be, so the pawn broker was more than happy to lend me that little!). I finally got it paid off and it again sits at home. Glad you got your 2630 back home. Ironically, I found my '79 2630 in a pawn shop back in '86! Before the Internet they often really didn't know the value of certain guitars. But I guess that's different know. I found this Spanish guitar "with some ugly white pickguard", but I noticed that the nut was not glued, which indicated that it was not low end. I memorised the model number, and rode on my bike to Joep Egmond and asked what it cost. Answer: 999 guilders new. So, I jumped on my bike, rode back and gave the guy the only 15 guilders I had in my pocket as a first payment. Then I spoke to the priest... The priest? Yes, the priest, because I didn't want my dad to find out. So, I needed a storage room. All he had to know, was that it was not hot. On my next driving lesson I took a sleeping bag with me, collected the guitar, paid the rest of course and drove straight to the priest, who kept it for me in the library. A real flamenco guitar, it sounded like a canon under the church dome. My dad never asked what guitar I was playing in the church. "Forgive me, father, for I paid way too little for a flamenco guitar!"   Ubetcha Username: Ubetcha Registered: 7-2006 Posted on Sunday, September 02, 2007 - 10:54 am:    There are still pawn shops out there selling choice old instruments for a lot less than they are worth. 2 years ago I got a '65 Gibson Firebird III for $300 in a pawn shop in Montana. No I won't say exactly where, I intend to go back. The guy said it was a Gibson, but because it wasn't a reverse body it was only worth $300 to him! I spent all my gas money nailing it down, and then got my sister to Western Union me the funds to get home. With a big smile on my face.
