It makes me think that there is a baseline to quality these days, no matter where an axe is produced. They all start with the same, exactly routed pieces. I can see that, with experience, an Indonesian assembler can glue together the pieces just as well as the Japanese craftsman. Now, I understand that more goes into quality than just routing: choice of woods, foremost, but also the attention to detail on final finishing, fret mounting, and quality of hardware and electronics. Still, as a new owner of an AS103NT "Custom" from China, I'm looking forward to seeing and feeling some quality. -Chuck
