Funny, that someone actually reads that handwritten AS80 = 4580.
Serial number: S4102746
Samick
1994
October
prod. no. 2746

Advantages: narrow headstock > strings go straight from bridge saddle to tuning machines (no bends), Mickey Mouse ears like the original ES-335 are very much appreciated by ex-Gibson players.
Disadvantage: NON-waxpotted Super 50 pickups > feedback.

These guitars have potential allright, but they need some work (wax-potting or pickup replacement for instance by Super 58's). I'd say $400 max with these pickups. AFTER the work, it becomes a different story, especially if you replace the potmeters and the capacitors by better ones. But that means an extra investment of about $140.- (about $60.- per pickup and about $20.- for the pots and caps).
The wood construction is very good. (Don't bother about the scarf joint). Ratfinks3 wrote he got excellent results. He got a better sound than with his orange label ES-335.

I have seen a newer one from the Cort factory WITH Super 58's go for even less ($298.-), which I did NOT understand. They're definitely better than the low end Artcores with ACH1 and ACH2 humbuckers.

Ebay Item #220158386927

It's listed again and the guy STILL gets the description wrong even after being corrected.
By the way I have the exact guitar and just got GFS PUPs installed and .047 cap....sounds amazing.

Of the Korean made Ibanez, which ones are considered better? Cort or Samick

The ones from Cort have the best OEM pickups (Super 58's wax-potted).
The ones from Samick are mainly interesting because of the narrow headstocks (matter of personal preference) and the Mickey Mouse ear shaped horns (same). The pickups are inferior NON-waxpotted Super 50's (not 58's).
So if you buy these models from the Samick factory, reserve some money for Super 58's.
Early Cort made AS models have the same shape but have Super 58's installed. Then you have traditional shape and the best OEM pickups.
